2006
The Festival of Trees is an annual community event taking place from the middle of November to the first week of January each year. It is a charity event put on by Community for Kids to raise money for B.C. Children's Hospital.
Companies and non-profit organizations "purchase" a tree from the Community for Kids organization and decorate their tree with any chosen theme. The trees then remain on display at the Grand Hotel in Kelowna for the entire Christmas season, allowing the public to come in and join the event, viewing the trees over the holidays and making their own personal donations to B.C. Children's Hospital.
Our guild took part for the first time in the 2006 Festival of Trees and decorated a tree with all hand-stitched ornaments. Guild members were so impressed with the contribution to the community, they have decided to participate annually.
